My name is Ron Bainbridge and for
the past 40 years I have been preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in Western Australia. At
present I am ministering with the South Coast Church of Christ in Albany, Western
Australia. During the past 16 years I have been
privileged to co-ordinate an outreach media ministry which the SouthCoastChurch has called
Discovering A Better Life Ministries. This outreach offers messages of comfort
and hope and through both radio, newspapers and our website www.discoveringabetterlife.org.au.
For the past 16 years our newspaper
column has appeared each week in the Elders Farm WEEKLY, (which is Western
Australia’s largest rural newspaper), and the Albany Advertiser/EXTRA. In recent
years it has appeared in five other newspapers in Western
Australia, as well as other newspapers and magazines in South Australia, Victoria,
Tasmania, and New South Wales.
The primary aim of Discovering A
Better Life Ministries is to make available positive messages of hope, comfort
and encouragement, in a parabolic format, to help men and women find meaning
for their lives by empathizing with their needs, hurts, and successes. Today,
entire families in many cities and rural areas of our nation are obtaining very
little satisfaction out of life. . Many people with whom I have offered
Christian counsel over the years have difficulty in dealing with interpersonal
problems. They are often anxious, depressed, and sometimes anti-social, even to
the point of outright hostility! Some are even suicidal. However, the SouthCoastChurch is convinced that
many people who are burdened by these worries can be helped to live courageous
lives in an insecure and discouraging society, if only they are offered some
positive encouragement to enter into a meaningful relationship with Jesus
Christ.
The SouthCoastChurch
in Albany, Western Australia is committed to helping
men and women live courageous lives and the messages we share through our
newspaper columns, local radio station and website. With our Lord’s help, we
make every effort to provide emotional and spiritual support on an entirely
non-denominational basis. The hundreds of Letters, Telephone calls, Faxes, and
Emails we receive each year clearly indicates that some special needs are being
met through what we feel privileged to present.
During the past 16 years we have
received over 3,000 responses and mailed out over 45,000 pieces of gospel
literature to people who have requested such from us. Many people have entered
into Bible Correspondence Courses and some of these have been baptized into
Christ, while others have been restored to faithful service in the kingdom of
our Lord. We praise God for the fruitfulness of this ministry and hope that in
sharing some of this with you that you too will be encouraged to reach out in
practical ways to introduce others to Christ and the genuine hope He offers to
all who are willing to place their faith in Him (Ephesians 3:20-21).
At present, my wife (Moya) and
myself are travelling across Australia and visiting with many who have corresponded
with us, but who have until now been faceless people. We are also enjoying
meeting with brethren in South Australia, Victoria, and New
South Wales. Some we have never met before, while others
we have not seen for many years. It is a joy for Moya & myself to have some
special time with Trevor & Christine Baker whom I was privileged to teach
and baptize into Christ over 30-years ago. We are looking forward to meeting
and worshipping with the Belmore Road Church this coming Sunday and would be
more than happy to speak with any of you further concerning our media outreach
if you so desire.
