Some of you may wonder what activities come under the umbrella of the Adult Fellowship ministry here at Belmore Road Church of Christ, and with what responsibilities we’ve been assigned. In summary the Adult Fellowship activities past, present, and future for 2010 are as follows:- The most significant event that has already occurred so-far this year was Camp-ING, which in reality requires a very large collaborative effort from many church members, and a proportionally larger effort from a smaller organising group – none-the-less this is generously supported by all of us here, and by our visitors, and visiting brothers and sisters too. Can you imagine a year without CampING? I hope not, and it’s always a highpoint for the Team in the year ahead. The main ongoing activity of the Adult fellowship group, is the Youth and Young at heart gathering, which in terms of our contribution involves cyclical events hosted by BRCOC. Many of you will already know about this, but if you want to be in on the action - ask Nancy or Roger about the coming event, or check out the Edifier for details nearer the date. Being single will hold its own special privileges and responsibilities. It means one has time to serve the Lord and seek a partner of God’s choosing, which may mean leaving Belmore Rd to find that special someone. Young adults live in an exciting season of their lives. It may involve travel, they may be university students pursuing pathways for dream careers or they may be employed: cashed up with time and energy on their hands. If they have found the love of their life, then as a couple with no children, their potential to serve the body is great. Young adults emerge from adolescent years to realize their identity in Christ, to grow in faith and knowledge, and are still in the process of finding their spiritual gift to serve the Church of Christ. Who can you encourage in this? Talking about serving the body... still in the planning stage is the preliminarily titled “Building Renovation Opening Event”. This will be an opportunity for us to duplicate the fun of the Movie night, and Bollywood spectacular, and will be our chance to invite our neighbours in the local area - and friends - to come and learn what we stand for at BRCOC, and how our faith is reflected in our lives. We have many activities in mind, with a particular emphasis on activities for the young, and we look forward to sharing this event with all of you, in Christ’s name. |
