Tell us a bit about yourself and your family… I was born in Hong Kong, I am a Singaporean citizen, but all of my educational qualifications come from Australia. It's slightly complicated. We used to live in Brisbane. Currently, my mom works as an accounts clerk. My dad has stopped work and began focusing on doing short term mission work. My sister is working as a speech therapist, and is engaged to be married at the end of this year.
Where, and what are you studying here in Melbourne? I am majoring in Accounting and Finance at Melbourne University, and this is my second year.
Share something with us about your faith in Christ … I was born into a Christian family, but the Christian life and zeal did not begin in me until much later. I guess my church friends played a very important role in my life, spurring me on to greater heights for God all the time. But more importantly, they were the ones who pulled me out of the pit. So to me, relationships brought about by God are something really powerful, and I try my best to use that lesson to be a blessing to those around me, though at times it’s a challenge.
When you are not studying, how do you spend your time? When I’m not studying, I would prefer to be playing sports like soccer, tennis or badminton, although it is difficult here, especially because booking fees are so high in the city, so mostly I end up jogging (slowly).
If you were showing someone the sights in your home-town, where would you take them? Every time a friend from overseas comes over, I take them all over town to try every single type of local food possible, that I can think of. It becomes a sort of a food festival, or a stuffing-yourself competition.
Ideally where would you see yourself in 5 years? Ideally, I would be back in Singapore, completing my third year of work, and being promoted from a junior. Thus, I would look for a simple and high paying job with my new rank. I would, having dated for three years, be seeking to move on to the next step in the relationship the following year. Nice ideals, but I doubt it will be like that! |
