I am sure that it seems an eternity ago that the congregation here at Belmore Road embarked on the process of expanding the eldership. It is hard to believe that it is six months ago that the three candidates put their names forward to be considered for the eldership. To say that the road has been long would seem to be an understatement and following the various twists and turns has not made the journey any easier.

Daniel chapter 2 records the mind of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, fully im- mersed in a dream which when completed keeps him wide awake for the rest of the night. What he saw was an awesome statue made from gold, silver, bronze, iron and clay, plus one small stone. The stone crushed the statue reducing it to dust which blew away leaving no trace, while the stone grew to mountain-size then filled the whole earth.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family… I was born in Hong Kong, I am a Singaporean citizen, but all of my educational qualifications come from Australia. It's slightly complicated. We used to live in Brisbane. Currently, my mom works as an accounts clerk. My dad has stopped work and began focusing on doing short term mission work. My sister is working as a speech therapist, and is engaged to be married at the end of this year.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family… I’m from Singapore and I’m 22 this year. My mum is a social worker working for the government and my dad is a maintenance officer in a property company. I have an older sister who is 24 this year who had just graduated last year from the National University of Singapore in a degree in Sociology and is working now. I have a younger brother who is 15 and is in Secondary 3 this year. I have a dog too, his name is Milo and he’s a Silky Terrier. He’s 9 this year and he’s my little darling.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family… My name is Marcus Yang HuiYu. But Marcus is just fine. If I had to say I was from somewhere it would be Singapore even though I was born in New Zealand. Singapore has been my home for the past 10 years and I am the most comfortable in that culture. The rest of my life I’ve spent time living all over: Pakistan, London, New York & New Zealand. Mine is a family of 5: mother, father, and 2 brother; one 2 years older and one 5 years younger than me.
